Mollie Walker

Mollie Walker, 94, died November 7, 2007 in Tacoma.
She was born the oldest of four siblings on June 27,
1913 in Pittsburgh, PA to Ben and Ida Louik. From a
very young age Mollie was a natural caregiver; she
left school to care for her grandmother and her
younger siblings. Mollie met her husband Irving in
Chicago, and they were married for more than 59 years
before his death in 1998. Mollie and Irving moved to
Spokane, where they raised their children and operated
a successful clothing business, before moving to the
Tacoma area. In Tacoma they worked side by side at
Walker's Fashion Apparel at Tacoma Mall and
Southcenter. Wherever Mollie lived, her home became
the gathering place. She loved to cook and show her
appreciation to her family and friends with fabulous
meals and gracious, warm hospitality. Mollie's
exceptional qualities were recognized by all who knew
her. She will be greatly missed. Mollie is survived by
her children, Jerry (Beverly) Walker, University
Place, Sue (Michael) Pelman, Thousand Oaks, CA,
grandchildren Randy Walker, Todd Pelman, Amy Pelman,
and Darcy Walker, and great-grandson Solomon Walker.
