Virginia L. Shay, born February 23, 1923 in Kingman, AZ, died February 6, 2003
in Snohomish, WA.
She moved to Port Angeles, WA as a toddler, and graduated from Roosevelt
High School in Port Angeles in 1941. She married Arnold Gulstad in 1941, Ernest
R. Nailor in 1949 and Alban L. Shay in 1972.
Survived by her daughters, Jackie (Joanne) Johnson of Seattle, Brenda Nailor of
Port Angeles and Darcy Caddey of Lynnwood, WA; sisters, Aimee Johnson of
Port Angeles and Marion Knorr of Darby, MT; her five grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husbands, Arnold Gulstad, Ernest R. Nailor and Alban
L. Shay; and by her brother, George.
Virginia was employed as a bookkeeper for various businesses including twenty
years of service with Nailor Lumber. Her interests included gardening, reading,
painting, sewing and interior decorating. She enjoyed swimming, tennis, water
and snow skiing and horseback riding. She was a member of Edmonds United
Methodist Church, 52 year member of Esther Chapter #19, O.E.S.
