Mary Ellen (Poe) Stewart Aug. 3, 1919 - Jan. 5, 2003 Mary Ellen, 83, left her earthly home and is now in that house not made with hands- eternal in the heavens. Born in Outlook, WA to Edgar Allen and Effie Winifred (Myers) Poe. Preceded in death by her 3 brothers, Ed, Hal and Cal. Survived by her loving husband, Malcolm; children Sue Ann Clawson, Sandy Novack and Hal Stewart; grandchildren Michele Ostlie, Anthony Novack, Leigh Novack and Hal Martin; 8 great grandchildren and many friends. After her mother’s death at an early age, she was raised by her grandmother, but spent time with her father and brothers. After graduation from high school, she attended WSC and CWSC. After business school she worked as a secretary, retiring from the state in 1980 as an administrative sec- retary. She met Mac, her future husband, in Pasco in 1942. They married in 1946 after his return from WWII. Throughout their marriage they enjoyed RVing, traveling throughout the United States enjoying forest, mountains and streams. Mary Ellen loved her garden and her flowers. Any nice day you could find her with her hands in the soil. She also enjoyed sewing, altering clothes so they would fit just right, and was never far from a good book. She was always happiest when doing something with her family. She was a long time member of All Saints Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice, P.O. Box 1502, Tacoma, WA 98401. A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 205 E. 96th St., Tacoma; Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, 2:00pm, with a reception to follow. Arrangements by Fir Lane Funeral Home.
