Martha Newhouse Sauvain
A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, in Portland Memorial Funeral Home for Martha Newhouse Sauvain, who died Sept. 15 at age 94.
Martha Flatow was born Aug. 26, 1908, in Philadelphia and moved to Portland in 1912. She graduated from Jefferson High School and was a homemaker. In 1928, she married Neil Newhouse; he died in 1972. She married Chet Sauvain in 1975; he died in 1989.
Survivors include her son, John Newhouse; daughters, Isabelle Sawyer and Nancy Hogue; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
