Dorothy Bristow STEIN

Born January 24, 1908, in St. Louis, MO; died No vember 18, 2000, in Redmond, WA.
Preceded in death by her husband Weldon A. Stein and grandson Eric Handsfield.
Survived by her daughter Kay Stein and her husband Vernon Threlkeld of Seattle,
WA, and granddaughter Lara Handsfield and her husband Craig Lund strom and
great-grandson Evan Bristow Lund strom of Mahomet, IL. Dorothy graduated from
the University of Illinois, where she was a mem ber of Kappa Delta Sorority. She
taught high school French and Latin in Cairo, IL and Arling ton Heights, IL, and
married Weldon in 1941. During World War II, while he was overseas, she lived in
Little Rock, AR near her mother and sister. After the war, the family moved to Web
ster Groves, MO and in 1950 to Bethesda, MD, where Dorothy worked as a secretary
at Nation al Institutes of Health. Weldon died in 1964. After her retirement in 1973,
Dorothy lived in Seattle, WA, and was a member of University Congrega tional
Church. In 1975 she moved to Leisure World in Laguna Hills, CA, and enjoyed travel
ing, swimming, playing bridge and winning ta ble tennis tournaments. She returned to
the Seattle area in 1987, and resided at Sterling Park Living Center in Redmond, WA
for the last ten years.
