| Laura L. Smith Nov. 17, 1925 - Feb. 15, 1998 Laura L. Smith passed into the presence of her Lord on Feb. 15, 1998, in Tacoma. She was born Nov. 17, 1925 in Paso Robles, CA to Ralph M. and Mary (Bell) Burbidge. She was raised in Cle Elum, WA and moved with her family to Tacoma in 1959. She attended the Assembly of God Life Center Church in Tacoma. She graduated from the Clover Park Vocational Technical School and was licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1963. She was employed as an LPN for the State of Washington, at Western State Hospital and then the Georgian House Convalescent Center for over 20 years. Her goal was to care for others in a kind and compassionate manner and serve in such a way as to honor God in everything. "She enjoyed reading God's Word, attending church services and sharing her faith with others. She was a devoted mother with a sincere desire to provide for her children's needs in every circumstance," her family writes. "She will be remembered for the pleasure she gave as she sacrificed her own ambitions for the best of her family." She is survived by her daughter, Susan Jones, of Auberry, CA; sons Grant Smith of Ketchikan, AK, Mark Smith, of Tacoma, WA, and Brad Smith of Port Orchard, WA; and 13 grandchildren, Tami, Tracy, Jeffrey, Brady, Kimberly, Nicole, Christopher, Wendy, Brian, Peter, Randi, Janine, Christine and great-granddaughter, Kaitlynn. Services will be held at the Mountain View Garden Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW at 3 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 19, 1998. Rev. Dennis Fuqua will officiate.
