Floy Margaret (Wilson) Poe Floy Margaret (Wilson) Poe, of Mill Creek, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 21, 2008. She was 94 years old. Adoring family members surrounded her with love. There is joy in the presence of the angels. – Luke 15:10 Born December 20, 1913 in Meridian, Idaho to Lucy and Herman Wilson, Floy was raised in Boise, Idaho and later moved to Seattle, Washington. Floy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1932 and worked as a secretary for King County in Seattle, WA for several years prior to marrying Dwight Poe in 1935. Floy and Dwight lived in North Seattle and Shoreline for nearly twenty years where they raised their children Kitte and Patrick. They moved to Alderwood Manor, WA in 1957 to a small farm and established themselves in the community. Alderwood Manor was Floy's home for approximately thirty years. In time, Floy eventually made her home in Everett, WA and for the last eleven years has been a resident of Mill Creek, WA living most recently at Merrill Gardens. Floy was an active member of Alderwood Manor Community Church. She especially enjoyed her role in Silver & Gold. Faith in the Lord was a strong and guiding principle in Floy's daily life. Floy was an avid gardener and lifetime member of the Alderwood Manor Garden Club. Hostas, ferns, azaleas, and ivy beautified Floy's tidy garden beds while dazzling container gardens bloomed annually in her signature color Rose Pink. Floy anxiously awaited early spring when she could get her fingers dirty. "Primroses take away the winter gray!" she always shared. Her garden shovel and spade were her favorite toys. Floy had a special gift of gracious hospitality, and a dinner party hosted by Floy was an event to remember! Ambience, table décor, and delicious food and drink were delightful. Floy enjoyed lively dinner conversations filled with spirit and wit, and she herself was a charming storyteller. Floy was also a member of the Mill Creek Snappy Seniors, an avid reader, cat lover, sports fan, bridge player and chocoholic! With loving devotion, her daintiness and elegance guided her gently, allowing all who knew her to feel close and warm. To know Floy was to love her. She made this world more beautiful. She flew away on angel wings with grace, beauty and love. Heaven above will rejoice with her presence, as darling cherub angels smile with delight. She was a true matriarch of her family and lovingly called, "Groogie" by her grandchildren. Floy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dwight Poe; her beloved daughter, Kitte Stingily; and sister, Eva Howard. Surviving are her son, Patrick Poe and wife, Cynthia, of Vancouver, WA, and three grandsons, Brent, Brandon and Nicholas Poe; Kitte's children, grandson, Tom Stingily and wife, Brenda, of Snohomish, WA, and great-grandson, Noah; granddaughter, Samantha Barth and husband, Jim, of Yakima, WA, (Jim's daughters, Chelsea and Meagan); grandson, Karl Stingily and wife, Phyllis, of Memphis, TN, and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Laura Stingily; special friend, Robert Young, of Edmonds, WA; and her furry companion "Spooker" the cat.
