Elmer Edward Poehler Elmer Edward Poehler, 79, of Puyallup, died June 26, 2000. He was born July 22, 1920 in Effingham County, near Diedrick, Illinois. He served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Wilson and earned eleven battle stars. He moved to Washington in 1968 and worked for St. Regis for thirteen years. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion of Illinois, the Puyallup Eagles and Puyallup Elks. He enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking and gardening. He was preceded in death by his former wives, Sue Gaines and Jennie Zevenbergen Stroud, and his sister, Lavern Lynch. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, of sixteen years; stepsons Virgil Wheatley of California, Wayne Wheatley of Colorado. Bruce Wheatley of Wisconsin, J.D. Stroud of Illinois, Don Opseth of Puyallup; stepdaughter Carol Whaley of Puyallup; numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be made to the charity of your choice. Viewing will be TODAY, 3-9 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted at Mt.
