| Jacqueline Marie Olafson #Grammy# 1928-2003 Our beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister and friend, Jackie Olafson, died February 7, 2003, surrounded by her family, at St. Claire Hospital. Jacqueline was born August 19, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri to Hugh and Iris Heberlie. #Mrs. O# moved to Washington State in 1970. Jackie was the pivotal point of her family and imparted an appreciation of the comfort and support that family can provide to the many generations whose lives she affected. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and counted among her greatest joys family gatherings that welcomed many friends into the fold as part of her family. She rarely knew a stranger and had a knack for putting people at ease with her many detailed stories of foreign travel with her ex-husband and family and talk of her favorite topics: food, Bingo, and old movies. Our mother was an arm-chair adventurer and a great story teller with a keen interest in travel, art, music, cultures, and literature which she was able to bring to life with the enthusiasm and genuine fascination that were a hallmark of her unique character. Grammy will always be remembered for her laughter, optimism, generosity, love and caring hospitality. Every day we will miss her smiling face. She will leave a large gap in the space she occupied in all of our lives. She is survived by her brother, Bill Montgomery, and her children Sally Hartjoy, Stephen Olafson, Roxanne Augé, and Michelle (Ron) Newberry. Her large family of grandchildren included: Gina Stanley, Tonja Stanley, Lisa (Wes) Gallegos, Sonja Olafson, Jennifer Augé, Joshua (Sherry) Olafson, Amber (Nick) Colglazier, Madison Newberry and Emilie Newberry, and great- grandchildren Brandi Till, Meagen Stanley, Miranda Gallegos, Dylan Olafson, Noah Stanley, Jude Gallegos and Elijah Colglazier. Mom was a surrogate mother to many, including David Martin (who preceded her in death) and Linda Martin to name just two. There will be a gathering at her Lakewood home at 11108 83rd Avenue SW on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 2:00 PM to celebrate her life and acknowledge her passing. All who knew her are invited to share our joy of having had her in our lives. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Diabetes Assoc. A special thank you is extended to the Special Care nursing and medical staff at St. Claire Hospital (especially Liz, Sarah, Brenda and Rob) and Franke Tobey Jones Retirement Home.
