Lois Elaine Meritt
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003, in Parker's Landing Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Washougal, Wash., for Lois Elaine Meritt, who died March 6 at age 82.
Lois Elaine Phillips was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Shelbina, Mo., and was raised in Oregon City. She moved to Fern Prairie, Wash., in 1978 and was a private caregiver and foster parent for about 20 children. In 1938, she married Raymond Sr.; he died in 1980.
Survivors include her sons, Raymond Jr., Phillip and Richard; daughters, Lona Hjellen, Judith Geller and Candy Meritt; brother, Edward Phillips; sisters, Pauline Fanning and Lilly Shearman; 32 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
