James Edward McCreedy was born October 15, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up in Illinois. He died January 15, 1999 at Madigan Army Medical Center, ending a long and courageous battle with cancer. James was an Air Force veteran, serving until his retirement at McChord in 1964. He then managed a plant for General Electric in Puerto Rico. In 1968, he returned to Washington and became a real estate agent. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Valeria; children Rev. Justin (Daniel) McCreedy of St. Martin's Abbey; and Paula McCreedy of New York City and her husband and child, Andon George and Alexander. Memorial services Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, 2:30 PM in the Chapel at Oakwood Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Oakwood Hill Funeral Directors, (253) 473-2900.
