MRS. JOHN A. MOORE

- CHERISHED WIFE, MOTHER AND FRIEND Emily G.
Moore was born August 2, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She
graduated from Friends Select School (Philadelphia) at age 16, and
with honors from the University of Pennsylvania at age 19 (Phi Beta
Kappa). Mrs. Moore was also a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma
sorority. Following her college graduation, Mrs. Moore worked as a
Human Resources Analyst for the Federal Reserve Bank in
Philadelphia. She met her future husband John at the University of
Pennsylvania. They married March 29, 1948 in Philadelphia and then
returned to Tacoma. Although Mrs. Moore spent a few years during
the early 1950s in La Jolla, California while her husband served during
the Korean War, the rest of her married life was spent in Tacoma.
While devoting herself to raising four children, Mrs. Moore still found
time to work with and support many different causes in the Tacoma
community. Some of her responsibilities included: President of the
Tacoma Junior League, President of the Aloha Club of Tacoma, Board
Member of both the Tacoma Garden Club and the Northwest
Horticultural Society, Board Member and Vice President of the Pacific
Horticultural Foundation, and Board Member of the Children's Home
Society. During the last few months, Emily fought a brave battle with
cancer; she passed away early Friday morning, June 2, 2000. She is
survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Dr. John A. Moore; by her
four children, Scott Moore, Lindsey McDonald (Wayne), Todd Moore
(Martha) and Reed Moore (Cara); and her six grandchildren, Nora,
Abra, Gwen, Ross, Cooper and Miller. Inurnment will be at Mountain
View Memorial Park in a private family ceremony. Mrs. Moore's family
welcomes friends to join them at a memorial service to be held
Tuesday, June 6th at 2:00 PM at Old St. Peter's Church in Old
Tacoma. The Reverends Woody Fletcher, Morgan Johnson and John
Keliher will officiate. Memorials may be sent to Old St. Peter's Church
Fire Sprinkler Fund, or the charity of your choice. Pub Date:
