| God mercifully unchained the soul of a beloved wife, mother and friend, for which we are truly grateful. |
| Janet Gallagher Knapp Myles, 82, peacefully left us on Aug. 17, 2008, due to the complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. |
| Janet was born in Erie, Pa., to Eugene J. and Myrtle Dayton Gallagher on Dec. 24, 1925. After she graduated from nurse's training at Providence Hospital in Portland, she married Homer L. Knapp on Oct. 9, 1948. They lived in Baker City, Portland, Pendleton, and then Yuma, Ariz. Janet worked as an registered nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital and Hershey's Nursing Home in Pendleton, and the Bend Memorial Clinic. |
| After Homer's death, she married John Driscoll Myles in 1994. |
| Janet was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer; and sons, Mark and Steve. She is survived by her beloved husband, John D. Myles of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Laura (Alex) Piliaris, Aria Sequoia (formerly Cindy Knapp) and Ruth Knapp; son, John Knapp; daughter- in- law, Alice (Steve) Knapp; step-son, John Gregg Myles; step-daughters, Carol Damberger, Phyllis Candido, Catherine Miller and Dorothy Perry. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. |
| A service will be held on Friday, Aug. 29 in Phoenix, followed by interment in Pendleton at a future date. |
