Frank W. "Papa" McGhie

Aug. 10, 1924-April 17, 2007

Frank W. "Papa" McGhie, of Mill Creek, WA, fell asleep
peacefully in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, April 17,
2007, after a brief illness with lymphoma. He was born
in Springfield, MO, and moved with his family to
Everett, where he grew up and attended school.
As a young man he served in the south Pacific with the
US Coast Guard. After returning home he entered
automotive sales where he was recognized by General
Motors' Buick and Cadillac divisions with several
outstanding achievement awards in both sales and
customer service. He began a second career in 1980,
opening a mortgage and escrow firm in the Northgate
area. He worked in this field for several years. He
continued to work until January 1 of this year,
spending the last few years as a field service
representative for The Everett Herald.
Frank loved fishing and bowling, but his true passion
was the game of golf. He was an avid fan of the
Seahawks, Mariners and Sonics and only missed games if
he was on the golf course or working. He was a charter
member of the Mill Creek Country Club and always felt
privileged to be one and to be a part of the Mill
Creek community. He made many wonderful friends in the
neighborhood and at the country club.
He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 53
years, Darlene McGhie, of Mill Creek; daughters,
Shawna McGhie, of Mill Creek and Linda Shermer, of
Everett; granddaughters, Mitzi (Sean) Charlton, of
Point Mugu, CA, and Trinity Sims, of Colorado Springs,
CO; three beautiful great-grandchildren; and his
little white dog, Bingo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and
Mary McGhie; and his son, Kim McGhie.
A memorial service is planned for a later date, place
and time to be announced.
