John Hugh McGuckin
John Hugh McGuckin died Aug. 30, 2000, at age 81. A private service will be held. Mr. McGuckin was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Norristown, Pa. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Burma. He worked for American Motors in Detroit and Philadelphia, becoming a national sales manager, before transferring in 1970 to Portland, where he retired in 1972. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church. In 1942, he married Matilda Peterson.
Survivors include his wife; son, John H. Jr.; daughter, Anne Marie Zahradnik; brothers, Francis and James; and four grandchildren. His sons, James and Richard, preceded him in death.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Muscular Dystrophy Association for ALS research. Arrangements are by Pegg, Paxson & Springer Chapel.
