LAESSLE, Elaine Laurent (Age 87)

Passed away December 20, 2006. A Memorial Service will
be held at the Chapel at Arlingrton National Cemetery
in Washington DC. She was born November 21, 1919 in
Philadelphia, PA to George and Mary Laurent. She
married Frank W. Laessle in Media,PA in 1939. In 1999
they celebrated their 60th. wedding anniversary in
Carson City, NV. A Navy wife for over 21 years, she
lived on the east and west coasts, Hawaii and Japan
and traveled extensively throughout the world. In 1953
she christened a mine sweeper. Elaine grew up in
Boson,MA, graduated from Montreat College High School
in Montreat, NC and Pierce Business College in
Philadelphia, PA, received her BA from the Univ. of
Hawaii in Honolulu, her MLS from UC Berkeley in
Berkeley, CA, her AAS in Nursing from Peninsula
College in Port Angeles, WA. She has worked as a legal
secretary, a reference librarian, medical librarian
and an RN in various states. Since moving from Arizona
to Carson City, NV in 1987 she was the Medical
Librarian at Carson-Tahoe Hospital where she retired
in Oct. 1993 and subsequently worked temporarily at
the research library of the Nevada Legislative Counsel
Bureau. In 2003 she moved to Spokane to be closer to
her children. She has volunteered as an American Red
Cross Nurses's Aide in Boston, MA, as a Neighborhood
Chairman of the American Girl Scouts for Southern
Japan in Sasebo, Japan and with Saint Mary's Hospice
of Northern Nevada and other organizations. She was a
member of Beta Phi Mu, the International Library
Science and Information Honor Society, the Medical
Library Assoc. and other groups wherever they lived.
Her passions were family, friends, books, libraries,
spiritual frontiers, health and medicine, computers,
travel, shopping, Christmas and their dog Barney. She
was preceeded in death by her parents, brothers George
and Gene Laurent, son Daniel Laessle, dear husband
Frank W. Laessle and grandson Michael diLustro.
Survivors include daughters Susan diLustro of San
Diego, CA and Joan Waters of Spokane, WA; sons Mark
Laessle of Rosalia, WA and David Laessle of Snohomish,
WA; 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

City, NV 89706 or to Montreat College, Montreat, NC
28757. The family would like to thank the staff at
Manor Care nursing home for their exceptional, loving
care of Elaine Laessle.
