| LINIMON, Audrey Marie April 1, 1923-November 14, 2007 Beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Audrey Marie Linimon passed away peacefully on Nov. 14, 2007, at age 84, surrounded by her family and her pastor, Bill Van Nostran. Audrey was born on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1923, in Nevada, Mo., to James Ward McElfresh, a carpenter, and Laura Alice Duffey McElfresh, a teacher. Before she was 2, Audrey, her brother Richard, and their parents moved to Wolf Point, Mont. Not long after arriving in Montana, Audrey's father died. Her mother later married Henry Lowers. Through the Depression, Audrey lived with her extended family, including her grandparents, Laburn and Rosa Duffey, and sisters, Ellen and Natalie Lowers. She graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1941. Audrey moved to Portland during World War II and worked as a secretary at the Oregon Shipyards, where she met William Albert "Al" Linimon, the love of her life. They were married on March 30, 1946. The Linimons were lifelong residents of North Portland. Audrey was a homemaker until 1959, when she began to work outside the home for a number of companies before joining Steinfeld's Products as a cannery worker. She worked there until her retirement. After her husband's death in 1969, she filled the roles of both parents, lovingly providing and caring for her children. Although she always put her family first, she showed enormous compassion for everyone she knew. She enjoyed volunteering for the SMART program at a local grade school, was active in TOPS in North Portland, and was a deacon in Northminster Presbyterian Church. She taught others to care by her example. Audrey is survived by her children, Diane Linimon and husband, Gary Gavlick of Phoenix, Ariz.; David Linimon and wife Vicki, of Portland; Judy Platt and husband, Kevin of West Linn; and Mark Linimon and wife, Wendy of Portland; her sister Natalie Rector of Portland; her sister-in-law and friend, Joanne McElfresh of Stevensville, Mont.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; brother, Richard; and sister, Ellen. A memorial celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2823 N. Portland Blvd. (Rosa Parks Way). The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church. Published in The Oregonian on 11/28/2007. |
