| Marjorie Eggers Langfield Oct. 7, 1918 - Oct. 15, 2005 Marjorie Helenez Callenberg Eggers Langfield was born in Palo Alto, California, to Hugo Callenberg and Cora Maude Russell Callenberg. Marjorie endured a ten-year illness with dementia and osteoporosis and ultimately succumbed to the trauma of a broken hip, which resulted from a fall on October 2. Marjorie was preceded in death by a newborn son, Warren Hugh, in 1948; first husband, Robert D. Eggers Sr., in 1971; daughter, Elizabeth Meirs, in 1978; second husband, Alvin Langfield, in 1990; and brother, Russell Jacques Callenberg, in 1997. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends. Marjorie was a positive person with a great sense of humor. She loved to entertain, travel and play bridge and golf. Over the years she created and sewed many craft and gift projects for her family. She especially enjoyed doing needlepoint. She was an ardent miniature enthusiast, building and furnishing several dollhouses with great detail and authenticity. She eventually gave guest lectures on miniatures in her former Walnut Creek, California, neighborhood of Rossmoor. She is survived by her son, Robert D. Eggers Jr., and his wife, Dolores; daughter, MerryLee DeMaria; grandchildren, Debbie Dearborn, Ann Towne, David DeMaria, and Derek and Michael Eggers; great-grandchildren, Morganne and Connor Towne, Ryan Dearborn, Kellie, Kasey and Joseph DeMaria, and Grant and Dean Eggers. Over the years of her illness, special kindness was extended to Marjorie by Ritchie Langfield, her step-son; Steve DeMaria, her former son-in-law, and his wife, Sally; and friends, Sandy and John Miller. A special thank you to the staff at Alterra, Silver Lake, for the kind and loving care they gave Marjorie. Published in the Daily Herald on 12/7/2005. |
