Ruth #Ruthie# Holekamp King

Our mom passed away peacefully and happy September 21st, 2002,
she was 86. Born and raised in Webster Groves, MO, Ruthie was one
of the Holekamp sisters. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta
sorority and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, class of 1937.
After a brief teaching career, she was swept off her feet and married the
dashing and debonair Putnam #Put# King. His career with
Weyerhaeuser provided a life of travel which she considered an
adventure, moving them around the country establishing lifelong
friendships along the way. Mom loved reading, music, bridge,
crocheting her legendary Afghans or making #chex-mix# for her
grandkids. Ruthie spent her last day with family enjoying her swing on a
beautiful sun filled afternoon at her most favorite place in the world, the
family cabin on Puget Sound. She had a full life, her family her first
priority, her many friends a blessing. She was preceded in death by her
husband Put, and sisters RoseMarie and Nancy. She is survived by
brother Bud Holekamp along with sons Dan, Don and daughter Nancy.
She had eight grandchildren, Chris, Carri, Katie, Zach, Lindsey, Jaime,
Lisa and Michelle. A celebration of her life will be held Sat., Oct. 12th
from 1-4 PM at the Mountaineers Hall, 2302 No. 30th St., in old town
Tacoma. Pub Date: 9/29/2002
