Oscar Kretschmar

Oscar Kretschmar, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, born in Pittsburgh,
PA, Dec. 13, 1905, died at Alderbrook, Union, WA, Jan. 4, 1995. He was general
manager of Container Corporation's Tacoma plant until his retirement in 1971. He
was a member of Alderbrook Golf and Yacht Club. He was also a member of
Shelton United Methodist Church and a former member of Mason Methodist
Church in Tacoma. He was an active member of the board of directors of the
South Tacoma Boys and Girls Club for over 40 years, and was president in 1966.
In 1966 he received the Boys and Girls Club "Man and Boy" award for
outstanding leadership. In 1979 he received the Medallion award for long and
devoted service to youth. A lifelong interest in education led him to establish in
1969, the Oscar and Evalyn Kretschmar Educational Trust to provide
scholarships for deserving young men and women. He is survived by his wife of
55 years, Evalyn; sons, David, Tacoma and Carl, Chapin, S.C.; grandchildren,
Kimarie, Kendall and Kevin Kretschmar. Memorial services will be held at
Shelton United Methodist Church, 1900 King Street on Mon., Jan. 9, at 11:30 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the South End Boys and Girls Club. Please designate
