| Charles Joseph "Chuck" Kennedy, 89, of Hermiston, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Patti's Haven Adult Foster Home in Hermiston after four years of poor health. |
| At his request there will be no service. Disposition was by cremation and his ashes are to be scattered at his favorite hunting site later. A private family service will aslo be held later. |
| Mr. Kennedy was born Sept. 13, 1911, in Huntington County, Pa., to David and Anna Rhine Kennedy. |
| He came to Oregon as a young man and settled at Elgin, where the rest of his family lived. |
| He worked at logging in Alaska, Idaho, and Oregon, and also worked in the shipyards in Portland and Seattle. |
| He married Verna Graybeal in 1937, and in 1956 married Joan Anderson. In 1968 the Kennedys moved to Hermiston where he worked as a welder in irrigation in the Columbia Basin area before suffering a stroke in 1996. |
| Mr. Kennedy enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and visiting with family and friends. |
| Survivors include his wife, Joan, of Hermiston; daughters, Sharlean Barton of Richland, Wash., Janice Dyer of Elgin, Glenda Sims of Pendleton, and Linda Sue Cummings of Hermiston; son, John Anderson of Pendleton; brother, Woodrow of Elgin; sisters, Ruth McClune of La Grande, and Thelma Oliver of Summerville, 19 grandchildren, 42, great- grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. |

| Burns Mortuary of Hermston is in charge of arrangements. |
