A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, in St. Andrews Care Center for June S. Johnson. She died July 31 at age 85. June S. Sweeney was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Gallitzin, Pa. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where she also received a master's degree. She was an English and history teacher for several high schools in California. She also published child-rearing books. She lived in the Portland area for 10 years. She married Phillip F. Johnson; he died in 1990.
Survivors include her sons, Phillip F. and Wes; daughter, J.J. Sweeney; and three grandchildren.
