Evelyn May Johnson
A service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum for Evelyn May Johnson, who died Jan. 18 at age 92.
Mrs. Johnson was born Evelyn May Goodloe on Jan. 28, 1909, in Kansas City, Mo., and moved to Portland in 1915. She graduated from Franklin High School and was a sales clerk for Zell Bros. for 20 years, retiring in 1962. She was also a local opera singer in the late 1920s and early 1930s. In 1926, she married Martin Andrew Johnson; he died in 1954.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ellen Johnson-Hernandez; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Her daughter Shirley Ann died in 1998 and her daughter Beverly Jean died in 2000.
