Lila E. Fones Johnson
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, in St.
Andrew's Presbyterian Church for Lila E. Fones Johnson, who died Jan. 10
at age 89. Mrs. Johnson was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Eureka, Calif., and
was raised in Portland. Her maiden name was Bradford. She graduated in
1929 from Commerce High School. She was a housemother and cook for
Zeta Psi fraternity at Oregon State College and later a sales clerk in the
housewares department of the Lloyd Center Meier & Frank until about
1970. She was a member of the church and a former member of Grant
Park Baptist Church. In 1933, she married Norman F. Fones; they later
divorced. She married Miles Johnson in 1970; he died in 1973.
Survivors include her daughters, Faye York and Ednalee Sanders; sons,
Norman Fones II and Nick Fones; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-
grandchildren.
Interment will be in Pike International Order of Oddfellows Cemetery in
Yamhill. The family suggests remembrances to Southwest Loaves &
Fishes. Arrangements are by Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home.
