Melba Elaine Hockema

Melba Elaine Hockema died Dec. 13, 2003, at age 80. Melba Poe was born March 1, 
1923, in Portland. She was a cook for the Alsea Cafe for more than 20 years. She 
moved in 1975 to Hillsboro. In 1941, she married Alvin; he died in 1991. 

Survivors include her sons, Lelahn G. and Leslie E.; daughters, Linda L. Whitehead 
and Lois Steeprow; brother, Monte Poe; sister, Frances "Betty" Clapshaw; 10 
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
