Charlotte Marie HARTMAN
Passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2001 at Wesley Health Center in Des
Moines, WA., a resident of the Seattle area since the 1960's. She lived in Bothell
and Des Moines and was a resident of the Wesley Retirement Center since 1998.
Prior to coming to Seattle, Charlotte served as Executive Director of Girl Scout
Council in Bethlehem, PA. and Detroit, MI. She was Executive Director of the
Seattle area Totem Girl Scout Council and an Agency Director of the United Way
of King County before retiring. Charlotte was born December 8th, 1921 in
Altoona, PA. and was the third child of Jerome L. Hartman and Alice Feeney
Hartman. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jerome. She
leaves behind Sister Mary Collette Hartman, Sisters of St. Agnes in Managua,
Nicaragua and brother Elwood T. Hartman, Baltimore, MD., and Richard Hartman,
Dayton, OH. In addition are five nieces and 7 nephews. Charlotte was an active
volunteer all her life, contributing her leadership skills and good humor to many
organizations and activities. Most recently, that included Wesley Gardens
Retirement Center, the AARP, the League of Women Volunteers and the Des
Moines Library. A Memorial Service is planned for Charlotte on Monday, July 2,
2001 at Wesley Homes Gardens in Des Moines. In lieu of flowers, remembrances
may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
