| James F. Heaton, Age 90, died September, 3, 2000, in Seattle, Washington. |
| Mr. Heaton was pastor or interim pastor of Baptist churches in Missouri, Oklahoma, and North Carolina during a long career of more than 60 years, and held many positions of leadership in Baptist circles. He was trustee of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Bible teacher on television program "A Light Unto My Path," a writer for several Baptist periodicals, and a frequent author for the Zondervan Pastor's Annual collection of sermons. He was a Navy Chaplain in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was born in Clifton Hill, Missouri, January 22, 1910, and educated at William Jewell College, Liberty, Missouri, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. |
| Mr. Heaton was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Heaton. |
| He is survived by his daughters, Lois Willhoite, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mary Polikowsky, of Edmonds, Washington; by a sister and a brother, and by four grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. |
| A memorial service and burial will take place Saturday, September 9, at Montlake Funeral Home in Raleigh, North Carolina. |
