Edward E. Harwood, Sr

Silent Key KA7LGV "Just another chapter in the book of
life". Ed passed away peacefully into the loving arms
of God with his family by his side on January 5, 2008.
Ed was born on August 9, 1929 in Bisbee, AZ. He came
to Tacoma in 1947 where he married the love of his
life, Jean Shepherd, in 1950 and began their 57 year
journey through a rich and joyous life together. Ed's
life with Jean was full of adventure working for years
as a salesman in the grocery industry, owning a
restaurant in Sequim, WA, and for the last 12 years of
his working life for Boeing. In retirement Ed enjoyed
garage sales and restoring discarded furniture in his
shop while nurturing the beautiful flowers in his
yard. Ed was an avid Ham Radio operator making
hundreds of contacts all over the world. He was a
member of the Tacoma Radio Club and the Boeing Radio
Club. He was a life member of the Port Angeles Elks
Club and the Amvets Post #1. Ed is survived by his
wife Helen Jean, daughter Sandy, son Ed, Jr. and his
wife Robin. He also leaves behind his beloved sister
Barbara Nicks, niece and nephew Stevie and Chris of
Scottsdale, AZ and his granddogs Hemi, Emma, and
Trooper who brought him great joy and unconditional
love. Ed is preceded in death by his wonderful mother
Alice. On behalf of Ed and his family we would like to
thank the people at University Place Care Center for
the wonderful loving care that all of his "Angels"
gave to him each day. His life was truly blessed and
he loved each one of you for helping him through the
last years of his life. A Memorial service will be
held in the Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Celebration
of Life Center at 2 pm, Saturday, January 12th, 2008.
In lieu of flowers Ed would appreciate donations be
sent to UP Care center to assist with the ministry and
activities he enjoyed so much in the final days of his
life or to his church: Life Center Assembly of God in
Tacoma, WA.
