| Carolyn Lee Howard, 58, of Battleground, Wash., died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Vancouver, Wash. after a long illness. She died of a heart attack while undergoing dialysis. |
| Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. Private interment will be Monday at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton. |
| Mrs. Howard was born July 2, 1942, at Long Beach, Calif., to Egland Lamar Carter and Doris Johnson. |
| She had been a resident of the Heppner/Pendleton area for 25 years. |
| She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Lexington. |
| Survivors include her four children, Ken of Battle Ground, Wash., Craig of La Grande, Tammy Bortfvit of Pahrump, Nev., and Matt of Heppner; she was beloved companion of her husband, Larry Ketteler, and was survived by her father, Ron Woolston, and 11 grandchildren. |
| Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. |
