| A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in the Salvation Army Temple for Iona M. Hopkins, who died Dec. 16 at age 79. Miss Hopkins was born May 6, 1921, in East McKeesport, Pa. She graduated from Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island. She was a missionary in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) from 1954 to 1961 and served Assemblies of God until retiring in Washburn, Maine, in 1986. She then moved to Portland, where she volunteered for the Salvation Army. In 1953, she married Charles D. Flewelling; they divorced. |
| Survivors include her daughter, Kate Card; sons, Charles Flewelling and Keith Flewelling; brothers, George and Donald; and seven grandchildren. |
| Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family suggests remembrances to the Salvation Army's Rose Center for Seniors. Arrangements are by Bateman-Carroll Funeral Chapel. |
