Clara Smithhisler George
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at the Raven's Nest at Timberline Lodge for Clara Smithhisler George, who died May 24 of cancer at age 75. Mrs. George was born March 12, 1925, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Her maiden name was Baird. She lived in the Portland area from 1951 to 1988. She was an occupational therapist consultant in several nursing homes and taught third grade at Ainsworth Elementary School from 1961 to 1965. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Portland.
She married David Smithhisler in 1961; they divorced in 1972. She married John R. "Scotty" George in 1988; he died in 1995.
Survivors include her sister, Dorothy Herd.
Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements were by Neels Brea Mortuary in Brea, Calif.
