Vera Amanda FRENCH

On May 3, 2002, Vera French died in her Seattle home after a lifetime
assisting others, maintaining close friendships and serving as an active
community member. Born March 3, 1908 in St. Louis, Missouri, Vera
moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1911. She met her husband Theodore at
church; they were married in April 1933. They moved to Inglewood,
CA in 1938. Vera volunteered with the PTA for over 20 years,
receiving the PTA's National Honorary Life Membership award. She
carried out a tradition of volunteerism throughout her life. After the
death of her husband in 1971, she traveled with friends, visiting places
she never dreamed she would see. Although disability kept Vera close
to home in the last years of her life, she regularly talked with and wrote
friends she had known since childhood, never forgetting a birthday or
anniversary. A Seattle resident since 1994, Vera participated in
ElderHealth Northwest Adult Day Heath and the Bible Class and
Friendship Group at University Lutheran Church. Vera will be missed
by those who survive her: daughter Carol French Bridges and daughter-
in-law Rochelle Coffey of Seattle, son Alan French and daughter-in-law
Nicki French of Endwell, NY, granddaughter Ann Bridges and spouse
Mark Foote of Seattle, grandson Bruce Bridges and spouse Leonora
Bridges of Cardiff, CA, grandson Michael Bridges and spouse
Kimberlee Gillis-Bridges of Seattle, grandsons Scott French and Mark
French of Endwell, NY and great-grandchildren Connor Foote,
Michaela Foote, and Rowan Foote, of Seattle. A Memorial Service will
be held at University Lutheran Church, Seattle, on Monday, March 13
at 3 p.m. Memorial gifts: ElderHealth Northwest, 800 Jefferson Street,
Seattle 98109 or Elizabeth Home, 1604 N.E. 50th Street, Seattle,
WA. 98104.
