Robert Bryan Fugate
Bob Fugate, age 79, passed away after an extended illness at the
Marysville Care Center, Friday, November 3, 2000.
He was born in Elk Creek, Missouri on October 22, 1921. He was
married to Ruth Shirley Higgins in 1945. He was a WWII vet in the
Aleutions in Alaska. He was a very active member of his church, a
32nd Degree Mason, Boy Scout Leader and Little League Coach.
He loved to work in his garden and was an expert bookbinder. He
moved to the Marysville area in 1971 from Spokane employed with
GTE. Bob retired from GTE in 1983 after 25 years, working in
Couer d'Alene, Idaho and Everett, Wash.
He leaves behind two sons, Robert B. Fugate, Jr. of Bellefonte,
Penn. and Keith Fugate of Marysville, Wash; and two daughters,
Leigh Fugate-Quimby of Everett, Wash. and Jan Davies of East
Wentatchee, Wash; sister, Betty Landers of Los Angeles, Calif;
brother, Jim Fugate of Auburn, Wash; five grandchildren, Dave
Foote, Megan Fugate, Katie Fugate, Bryan Fugate, David Fugate;
and two great-grandchildren, Callie Foote and Alec Foote.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Fugate and
daughter, Jill Fugate, and sister, Jean Amtles.
A memorial service will be held at Jennings Park in Marysville,
Tuesday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m.
The family requests that in place of flowers a donation be made to
the American Diabetes Association.
