Frances J. EMERY

Passed away on February 16, 2006 following a long
illness. Frances was the youngest of four sisters. She
is survived by her sister Willa Gregory and long time
companion Gloria Lacey both of Seattle and a multitude
of nephews and nieces. Frances proceeded in death
sisters Mary Lois Pierce and Loretha Shepard. Frances
was born February 18, 1924, in Marshall, MO. She
relocated to the Seattle area during the 2nd world war
and worked at the Bremerton shipyard and Boeing as one
of the original Rosy the Riveters. Frances loved Jazz,
good books and cooking especially Creole style. She
and Gloria took cooking classes along with frequent
trips to New Orleans to learn the many recipes that
would lead to opening FranGlors caf located originally
in the International District and eventually settling
in Pioneer Square. FranGlors was a local favorite for
its spicy Creole dishes, cornbread and the jukebox.
Though she had no children, she and Gloria took on the
responsibility of raising three children who became
wonderful adults and parents. A Memorial Service will
be held February 25, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the
Butterworth- Arthur Wright Funeral Home, 520 W. Raye
on Queen Anne Hill, where she will be interred at Mt.
Pleasant Cemetery. A reception will follow the
service.
