George Eugene Decker
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, in
Bateman Carroll Funeral Chapel for George Eugene Decker, who died Oct.
15 at age 85. Mr. Decker was born Aug. 21, 1916, in St. Joseph, Mo.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces in the South
Pacific. He lived in Los Angeles before moving in 1948 to Portland and in
1969 to Gresham. He was a truck driver for Kendall Lumber Mill for eight
years and a mechanic for the Portland Parks Bureau for 23 years, retiring
in 1979. In 1945, he married Florence Bastian.
Survivors include his wife; son, George E.; daughters, Linda Guillinger and
Carol O'Bill; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Interment in Willamette National Cemetery. Remembrances to the Elks
Children's Eye Clinic.
