| Walter CHINN Age 92, passed away January 22, 2007. Survived by Linda, his beloved wife of 73 years; children, Robert (Anne), Phyllis (Jeff) Wong, Arlene Mon Wai, Winston (Maui, HI); daughter-in-law, Billie Jean; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha (Alfred) Wong, Frances (Philip) Lee (Honolulu, HI), Wilma Woo; sisters-in-law, Doris (Burlingame, CA), Fon Ping and her son, Dr. Joseph (Jeanette) (Las Vegas, NV); numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by son, James and daughter-in-law, Donna. Born in Oakland, CA on August 22, 1914, Walter was the fourth of 17 children. He grew up in Seattle's Chinatown on King Street. At the age of 19, Walter's family moved to Hong Kong, China where he soon met and married Linda Lee and started a family. Shortly thereafter the family came to Seattle. Walter co-owned and operated the China Cab Company from 1946 until 1962. He then worked as a Sous Chef at Trader Vic's restaurant in downtown Seattle. After retirement in 1965, Walter was a bus driver for the Seattle Public School District for 17 years. He was a long time member of the Gee How Oak Tin Association and the Kay Ying Society. Walter will be remembered for his deep love of family, energetic and fun-loving ways, fanatical passion for clam digging (geoducks!), a unique sense of humor and his sincere generosity, not only to those who knew him, but to strangers as well. He was always willing to lend a hand. We will deeply miss his proud spirit and generous soul. Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Bonney-Watson Funeral Home, 1732 Broadway, Seattle. Interment immediately following at Lake View Cemetery.
