John W. COOPER

CDR (SC), USN Ret'd Born St. Joseph, Missouri, October 18, 1911, passed away
January 16, 2004 in Kirkland. Attended elementary and high school in St. Joseph.
Enlisted in USN 1929; appointed warrant officer 1939; was serving on USS Nevada
during Pearl Harbor attack; Served in Southwest Pacific during WWII. Received
permanent commission at end of WWII. Attended University of Washington under
Navy program and graduated 1952 Retired from USN on 1956, Retired from Rockwell
International in 1971. Wife, Florence Johnson, predeceased him in 1993. Survived by
sons, John W. Cooper of Mesquite, Nevada; Robert L. Cooper of Sandpoint, Idaho;
Thomas A. Cooper of Portland, Oregon; and Philip A. Cooper of Turlock, California; and
many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services Saturday January 24th at 1:00
pm Greens Funeral Home Colonial Chapel at 400 State Str, Kirkland followed by burial
at Cedar Lawns in Redmond. The Commander would want special thanks to go to his
caring friends at the Kingsgate Library and at the Kingsgate Safeway and his
