William Terry Collins

Born on July 1, 1928 in Lewisberg, PA, died March 28, 2000 at his
home in Puyallup. He graduated from Lewisberg High School in 1946,
and later joined the US Army in 1949. Serving as a member of the
Seventh Regiment of the 1st Cavalry Division in Korea he was awarded
the Bronze Star with valour device, South Korea Presidential
Citation, Korean Service Medal with five campaign service stars,
Combat Infantry badge, a Good Conduct medal and Occupational medal
for Japan. After his military service he became a civil engineer and
member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a member of Eagles
and a continuing member of the Seventh Cavalry Association. William
Collins was an avid outdoorsman who dearly loved camping, hiking, and
hunting in the Pacific Northwest and instilled that love in his
children. He is preceded in death by his daughter Dawn Collins, son
Jeff Collins and his brother Sidney Collins. He is survived by his
children Doug Collins and wife Cheryl, Barry Collins, Gayle Collins
and husband John Wood, Fern Collins, Sherry Ashby and husband Dan
Ashby, and Niki Collins; sister Terry Smith and husband Bill, Sue
Collins; brother Pat Collins and wife Ann; sister-in-law Gladys
Collins; and grandchildren Jeff and Chris Collins and Ryan Ashby.
Services will be held Tuesday April 4, at 12 PM at Powers Funeral
Home in Puyallup with a committal service following at Tahoma
National Cemetery. Donations are to be made to the American Cancer
Society in his name.
