John Alexander "Jack" Babbit Jack Babbit of Lakewood, Washington, passed away on Good Friday, April 9, 2004 at 9:10 PM, just 3 days after his 77th birthday. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Susan Wagner, husband Marc; son Scott and wife, Sharon, and eldest son, Steve. Also mourning the loss of Jack are his two brothers, George and Douglas Babbit and their families, and Jack#s three grandchildren: Ryan & Patrick Babbit, and Jennifer Wagner. Jack was preceded in death several years ago by his wife of nearly 50 years, Jean. Jack, the son of Alex and Ruth Babbit, grew up on Gravelly Lake and was a 1945 graduate from Clover Park High School. Graduating a semester early, he joined the Navy just before the end of WWII. Upon returning to civilian life, Jack attended The College of Puget Sound in Tacoma, where he was a charter member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. There he met his future wife, Jean. Upon graduating from college, Jack worked for United Mutual Insurance, but eventually formed Micro Business Associates with his friend, Bob Gerth. Together, they pioneered the field of keeping business records electronically on computers. Jack was a long-time member of the Lakewood Rotary, the Little Church on the Prairie, as well as the Clover Park Ski School. He was known and loved by all who rode the Crystal Mountain ski bus from Lakewood. Jack was also a charter member of Oakbrook Golf and Country Club. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his sense of humor, his steadfastness, his desire to treat all people with dignity, and his pride in doing every task before him to the best of his ability. We will miss you, Jack! A memorial service for Jack will be held at the Little Church on the Prairie, Lakewood, WA, on Thursday, April 15th at 2 PM.
