Larry Bellona

Born 29 December 1925 in Pasadena, CA, passed away quietly in the
company of his family at St. Joseph's Medical Center on 28 June 2005. Larry
served in World War II as an infantryman earning the Bronze Star and
the Combat Infantryman Badge during the campaigns in Central Europe and
the Rhineland. He retired from the Army in 1966. He was an avid Scouter
both as a volunteer and later as a professional Scouter in the Mt.
Rainier Council (Pacific Harbors Council) of Tacoma. He was the recipient
of Scouting's Silver Beaver Award. Larry was well known for his
volunteer work in the University Place, Tacoma, and Gig Harbor Kiwanis Clubs
and served as Lt. Governor of Kiwanis, District 34. In addition, Larry
was a docent at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge, a member of the VFW Honor
Guard and an active member of the Lakebay Fuchsia Society. He is
survived by Evelyn, his wife of 57 years, four children, their spouses, and
nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks any remembrances
be sent to the Gig Harbor Kiwanis Foundation, P.O. Box 1491, Gig
Harbor, WA 98335 in Larry's name. A Celebration of his Life will be held on
25 August 2005 at the Key Peninsula Civic Center from 4:00pm to 7:00pm
in Vaughn.
