Donald Floyd Britton, 63, died on Christmas Day, December 25, 2004, after a long battle with emphysema.
Don was born in Pacific Grove, California, and went to High School there as well. Don held many different jobs throughout his lifetime, but especially enjoyed any job where he got to work with cars, his lifelong passion. He spent a good portion of those years working as a truck driver, both long haul and local deliveries. His other interests included politics and religion. In 1967, he married Sharon Baker of Sunnyvale, California and had two children.
After his divorce in 1976, Don moved to Jonesboro, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. There he was married to Margaret, his second wife. He spent a good number of years in Georgia and loved the lifestyle and the culture. Over the years, he affected his own southern accent, which he held onto for most of the rest of his life, and frequently referred to himself as the "Southern Yankee".
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Britton of Santa Cruz, California; and his mother, Helen Britton of Arlington, Washington.
He is survived by his two children, Michael Nathan Britton, who resides with his wife in Arroyo Grande, California, and Marlene Rose Bocanegra, who lives in San Jose, California, with her children, Donald's grandchildren, Martin Jr. and Melina; sister Darlene and her husband, Frank Karst of Arlington, Washington; sister Donna, and her husband, Don Belt of North Plains, OR; and his half-brother Raymond of Clear Lake, California. He also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins, all who will miss him dearly.
At Donald's request, no services will be held. His ashes will be spread at a future date, at his request, at a location near his boyhood home, of which he had many fond remembrances. Donations may be made in his honor to the American Lung Association.
