Elta V. Barnes

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, in Hillsboro Church of Christ for Elta V. Barnes, who died Dec. 29, 2004, at age 91.
Elta V. Mahan was born May 26, 1913, in Toledo, Mo. A homemaker, she lived in Miami, Okla., before moving in 1955 to Portland and in 1966 to Forest Grove. In 1951, she married Oris C.; he died in 1976.
Survivors include her sons, J.R. White and Tim Barnes; stepson, Doyle Barnes; daughter, Geraldine Pannier; stepdaughter, Scharlene Barnes; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her stepson Bill died in 1997, her stepdaughter Imogene Crawford in the late 1990s, and her stepdaughter Maxine Newell in the 1990s.
