Frances Amelia Brown
Frances was born in LaDue, MO on August 21, 1900. She met Merle Brown
while she was playing the piano for the Congregational Church and he was
singing in the choir. They were married September 4, 1920 and established
their first home in an apartment in Seattle, WA.
They lived in Spokane from 1929 to 1940, and then moved back to Seattle. A
daughter, Joan Elizabeth, was born October 22, 1930.
In 1950 they moved to Edmonds, WA. Her husband, Merle, passed away in
1968. Because they had a brand new car sitting in the garage, Frances
learned to drive at the age of 68!
Her daughter Joan, who shared her mother's talent for music and love of the
piano - attended The Julliard School and followed a career in teaching and
performance - passed away from cancer in November 1993. Frances then
lived with Joan's close friend, Pat Carter, for the remainder of her life.
Handwork, knitting, playing bridge, traveling, gardening, theater, ballet and
the symphony kept her busy. She also enjoyed listening to music at home,
dining at Scott's Bar & Grill and, like many of us, treating herself to an
occasional vanilla latte!
Frances died peacefully at her home after a short illness on April 18, 2003.
She will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held late in May.
Memorials may be send to Anderson House, 17127 - 15th Ave. NE, Seattle,
WA 98155.
