A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, in First Christian Church in Portland for Jean Burgess, who died Sept. 19 at age 84. Jean Hamilton was born Feb. 15, 1919, in Springfield, Mo. She graduated from the University of Missouri and received a master's degree in art education from State University of New York New Paltz. She was a teacher for the East Greenbush School District in New York. She moved to Portland in 1996. In 1943, she married Robert; he died in 1993.
Survivors include her daughters, Jan Bays, Susan Lesyk and Elizabeth Burgess; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
