Ronald F. Baker died at his mothers home in Everett on July 4, 2003. Ron was a quadrapledgic for the last 27 years due to a vehicle accident in 1976. He was the most intelligent, kind hearted, caring and giving soul anyone could ever be privileged to meet. You were "blessed" if you ever got a chance to meet Ron.
Ron was born on December 18, 1955 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Herald and Hazel Baker. From there he lived and went to school in Kansas City, KS, Quincy, IL, Seattle, WA, Marysville, WA and Everett, WA. He loved football and won a scholarship to play in college before his accident in 1976.
Ron was "brilliant" in his field with computers. You could always count on Ron to resolve any computer problems or personal ones. He was an inspiration and everyones "Ann Landers". There was never a challenge he wouldn't try and finally concur. He always tried to see the good in people and in every situation. He was very much involved with The Coalition for Disabled and spent much of his time helping them. I know Ron is in Heaven and is no longer in his wheelchair. He's "walking and waving his arms and hands" to all of us that knew him with a "big smile on his face and those beautiful baby blue eyes just "shining".
He is survived by his mother, Hazel Erickson; daughters, Janette Baker and husband Rosey of Birdsview, WA and Charlotte Ward of Mt. Vernon, WA; son, Gary Baker of Olalla, WA; uncle and aunt Oscar and Mary Johnson of Anacortes, WA; cousins of Anacortes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Carl Erickson; his father, Harold Baker; his "wonderful Finnish Grandmother, Ida Johnson; and his Grandma Baker.
It was Ron's wish to be cremated and his ashes to be thrown over Deception Pass because he loved the water and he wanted to travel the world. A memorial and celebration of his life is being planned at Solie Funeral Home in Everett, WA. Arrangements and time will be printed soon later in the week.
God Bless and love you "Kiddo"! Good-bye to our "Golden Boy" and "Pretty Boy Floyd".
