Bruce Rule Babb A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, in Mt. Tabor Heights United Methodist Church for Bruce Rule Babb, who died Aug. 2 at age 89. Mr. Babb was born Feb. 16, 1913, in Crossett, Ark. He moved to Portland in 1932, and managed several Piggly Wiggly grocery stores throughout the state and then Harry Babb Food Center in Portland. Later, he was a grocery layout planner for several companies and then owned Plannit Mfg. After his retirement in the late 1970s, he was a writer and photographer for Oregon Grocer magazine. He was a longtime member of the church. In 1940, he married Marjorie Emerson; she died June 26. Survivors include his sons, Rodney K. and Douglas E.; brother, Ernest W.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Remembrances to his church. Arrangements by Wilhelm.
