Florence M. Baarstad Florence M. Baarstad, 91, a five year Tacoma resident and Thurston County resident for over 50 years, died Thursday, July 20, 2000 at Hartwood Extended Care Center in Tacoma. She was born September 8, 1908 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Fred and Josephine (Boyer) Moynier. In the early 30's Florence married Ronald Baarstad in Idaho; they were happily married for more than fifty years, until his death in 1994. Florence was a homemaker and was an avid rock hound. She especially enjoyed looking for rocks in Oregon and Montana. She also enjoyed square dancing, gardening, and loved to travel. She was a member of the Olympia Agate Club and the Mushroom Society. Survivors include 1 sister, Evelyn Sinkula of Tacoma; 4 nephews, Roger Baarstad of Spanaway, Thomas Sinkula of Tacoma, John Sinkula of Bellevue, WA and James Ussin of Billings, Montana; 3 nieces, Marylyn Henderson of Tacoma, Sharon Shipman of Puyallup and Betty Ferguson of Billings, Montana. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Ussin and Magdelon Baarstad. Also preceded by one brother, Burleigh Moynier. A Memorial Mass will take place 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2000 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Tacoma, followed by graveside inurnment at Odd Fellows Memorial Park, Tumwater, WA.
