Rosemary Gregory BLALOCK

Died April 19. Rosemary was born to Edward Francis and Joann
Holland Gregory, February 9, 1921 in San Francisco. She was raised
in Seattle, where she graduated from Holy Names Academy and
attended the University of Washington. She married Alan Jacques
Blalock in 1941. During World War II, Alan was an Army Air Force
pilot and Rosemary accompanied him across the country four times,
living on military bases in Clearwater, Florida, Coffeyville, Kansas,
Salinas, California, and many other places. The Blalocks settled in the
Seattle area, where they raised four children. Rosemary was a devoted
mother, an avid reader and student of history, and a talented and
creative gardener. She worked as a volunteer for the Democratic Party.
She loved classical music and jazz, and she and her husband were
founding members of the Seattle Jazz Society. For 25 years she
worked in independent bookstores. Alan preceded her in death in
1998. Rosemary is survived by her children, Rosemary, Alan (Carol),
Joann and Janine; and grandsons, Sean Gunning (Millie), and Trevor
Bennett. The family wishes to thank the doctors, and most especially
the nursing staff at Overlake Hospital for their extraordinary care and
compassion. The time and date of the Funeral service will be published
in Monday's Seattle Times and Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspapers.
