Meredith F. BEATTY

87, died July 29, 2000, at her home in Normandy Park, Washington. She was born
on November 4th, 1912, in Kansas City, Missouri where she grew up. She
graduat ed from the University of Kansas in 1934 and was a member of Chi
Omega sorority. She and her husband, Philip L. Beatty, originally from Ellsworth,
Kansas, were married for 61 years until his death in 1997. They lived in Salina,
Hutchinson and Wichita, Kansas before moving to Seattle in 1964. Her three
sons, Mike of Salina, Brian of Spo kane, and Tom of Seattle, five grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren survive her. She was pre-deceased by her parents,
Walter W. Filkin (an attorney and poet) and Ada Faxon Flkin, her brother, W.
Warren Filkin and sister, Mary Eleanor Spencer. Family and friends were the
focus of her life. She will be remem bered for her infectious laugh, positive
attitude and gentle and beautiful spirit. She was an active member of the KU
Alumni As sociation, DAR, the American Glass Club, the Episcopal Diocesan
Sewing Guild and the Altar Guild of her church. Services will be at St. Elizabeth's
Episcopal Church in Burien, WA. at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 3rd and at the
Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in Ellsworth at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Au gust 5th.
BONNEY-WATSON Parker Chapel of Burien and Parsons Funeral Home of
Ellsworth are in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to St.
