Rev. Mildred Brooks Rev. Mildred Brooks, 94, St. Helens Ave., died Thurs., Aug. 27, 1998 at home. Rev. Brooks was the associate pastor (retired) of Miles Memorial C.M.E. Church, South "L" Street, Tacoma. Born in St. Louis, MO., she comes from a long line of ministers. Her mother Willie and her grandfather on her fathers side. She was called to the ministry in 1956 and graduated from Chicago Baptist Institute and was ordained into the 3rd District Conference. She also served in St. Louis, MO. and in Tacoma, WA. While serving in Tacoma she organized the Rose of Sharon Christian Church, now of Federal Way, in her living room with Rev. Michael Hale Sr. She is survived by her son, Grover Jackson of Federal Way, WA; her "daughter-in-Christ", Maxine Wilson, Lakewood; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
